0.6.5 Update

Sorry for the slightly delayed blog post, but here is the list of what’s new with version 0.6.5.  It was mainly bug fixes and background work, but we’re slowly setting the stage for a strong 0.7 to come through!

The main changes in 0.6.5 are:

  • Multiple deck support added! Just click on “change decks” in the right menu and check the ones you want!
  • Tons of database fixes! Thanks to everyone who has been submitting reports!!
  • Lots of algorithm refactoring. Biggest change is that the algorithm now uses a word/kanji’s strength as the main factor to determine when it should be chosen.
  • The “No more cards in this level” error message has been eliminated. In the case that all cards are done in the level, it will try to make a stack of the best suitable cards based on strength + expiration date.
  • Romanization has been switched from Hepburn/Nihon-shiki to Hepburn/Kunrei. The reason is that Kunrei is more popular than Nihonshiki. It probably won’t make a big difference to most users however as the two systems are quite similar.
  • Changed wording in the preferences about hiding / showing certain elements
  • Big Kanji reading now matches reading in the sentence. No more dictionary form only.
  • Lowered the font size of the big kanji and english definitions / sentences, increased font size of the japanese sentence

Again, thanks to everyone for their feedback, it’s really been a big help and has solved lots of problems we otherwise would have overlooked!  It’s really appreciated, thanks!!
