Version 0.6 released!

We were able to release 0.6 today, with a brand new design backing it up.  Hopefully this makes the interface a bit clearer and more attractive to newer users, and maybe it will help inspire other ideas as well.  Along with it, a slew of changes in 0.6 (from the changelog):

  • Kanji words in the answer (both correct or incorrect) now can be clicked to display kanji information
  • Completely new design
  • Added javascript to be able to dynamically hide or show parts of the quiz at will. No more needing to jump into the prefs menu
  • Few stat bugs were smashed out.
  • Learning mode and Review mode introduced – Learning mode takes smaller sets of cards at a higher repetition, but affects stats less. Review mode takes larger sets but affects stats more.
  • Default test mode added under preferences
  • FAQ update
  • Before I was using a couple of small PHP scripts for importing/exporting data, but everything has now been converted to awesome Ruby. Perhaps not important to the user, but it makes us happy.
  • Definitions and sentence fixes across the board

We’d love to hear any suggestions or comments you might have, especially about the new mode system.  Any comments about if the cards repeat too much / not enough or other strange bugs would be nice to figure out in this version so we can use 0.7 to introduce some new vocab sets (and maybe some new quizzes??).  Also, in between this version and 0.7, we’d like to add:

  • Forgot your password function
  • Ability to mix card sets
  • Report bad sentences function

As always, we’d love to hear your feedback on the uservoice messageboard.  And good luck studying!
